🎙Gustaw Eriksson is a third year PhD student in the Reproductive Endocrinology and Metabolism group at Karolinska Institutet, where he researches cell-type specific gene expression in tissues from women with polycystic ovary syndrome. His background is in molecular biology and bioinformatics. Before starting his PhD he was involved in projects about avian influenza, DNA damage, ancient DNA from Neanderthals and rare diseases.

🎙Our second speaker, Juliette Suermondt, is currently in her second year of her PhD at Karolinska. Her focus lies in the development of novel cell therapies. Her PhD journey began by searching for a PhD on findaphd.com and then moving to Scandinavia from the Netherlands.

🎙We will also welcome Elena Hoffer as one of our speakers. With a bachelor’s and master’s degree in pharmaceutical biotechnology, Elena has continued to pursue a PhD at Karolinska Institutet on the topic of T cells in the skin. Today, Elena is the co-founder of Alma.me, aiming to assist PhDs in their transition from academia to industry.

🎙For our industrial PhD perspective we have invited Fredrik Ström, who has founded several companies in informatics, is involved in many projects and is currently funding his PhD through his own company. As part of his PhD he is researching the outcome information in clinical decision making in drug treatments. Prior to this interesting career path, Fredrik completed a Master’s in computer science at KTH.

🎙Christian Binder is our last speaker, offering the point of view from someone who started but then decided against doing a PhD.
